Abuja, Nigeria – July 28, 2025
In a momentous show of recognition and national pride, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rewarded the triumphant Super Falcons following their record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, codenamed Mission X.

At a special ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the President conferred the prestigious Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) title on each player and technical crew member. But the rewards didn’t stop there.
Every member of the victorious squad also received:
🏠A fully furnished 3-bedroom apartment
đź’µ $100,000 cash gift (in Naira equivalent)

This grand gesture marks one of the most generous recognitions ever given to a Nigerian female sports team and reinforces the government’s commitment to gender equity in sports recognition.
“The Super Falcons have made our nation proud yet again. Your resilience, strength, and consistency show the true spirit of Nigeria. Today, we honour you not just as champions of Africa, but as role models to millions,” President Tinubu said during the ceremony.
The Falcons secured their 10th WAFCON crown in dramatic fashion, defeating hosts Morocco in a pulsating final that went down to the wire. Their campaign was widely praised for its grit, team unity, and tactical brilliance — once again asserting Nigeria’s dominance in women’s football on the continent.
A Legacy of Greatness Continues
With this latest WAFCON title, the Super Falcons remain Africa’s most successful women’s football team and have continued to blaze the trail on and off the pitch. Their efforts have inspired a new generation of young girls and brought women’s football in Nigeria further into the spotlight.
This celebration under the #RenewedHope agenda not only honors their achievements but signals a hopeful future where women athletes are celebrated on equal terms.
